Abstract

In recent years, various fragile watermarking schemes have been proposed for image authentication and tamper detection. In this paper, a chaotic map based watermarking scheme is proposed. The periodic nature of the Arnold's cat chaotic map is researched and this chaotic map is used in the scheme. To improve the security of the proposed scheme, the chaotic map algorithm is applied twice: to the host image and to the watermark image. The iteration numbers of the chaotic map algorithm for the host image and for the watermark image are the keys in the watermark embedding technique. The experimental results show, that the proposed scheme is not only secure, but also realizes excellent tamper detection and localization accuracy under different image content manipulation attacks.
