Abstract

A simple ballistic technique for measuring small fractional changes of magnetization of a ferromagnetic material, and an apparatus in which this is applied to studying the temperature dependence of magnetization at low temperatures are described. The technique gives direct values of fractional magnetization change, and the sensitivity of the apparatus described is about 1 part in 105 for gadolinium metal.
