Abstract

Abstract The standard PID algorithm, and the design methods based on proportional control, may not always produce the best solution to a control problem. This paper introduces some design methods based on integral control and pseudo-derivative feedback. These are put forward as an alternative means of tuning a three-term controller. Examples are provided based on realistic laboratory equipment.
