Abstract

In this mini-review relatively new results obtained on the basis of dielectric relaxation study of ion–molecular and molecular–molecular interactions in diethylsulfoxide (DESO) containing solutions are summarized. The mixtures of DESO with both electrolytes and non-electrolytes have been investigated. The systems considered are pure DESO, binary mixtures DESO-tetrachloromethane, and DESO-acids. Also dielectric relaxation properties of lithium salt solutions have been investigated. A general feature for all solutions is the effect of self-association of DESO on the characteristics of dielectric relaxation spectra. In some cases, the results obtained are compared with those known for dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO).
