Abstract

This letter proposes a new method of maintaining the half-power beamwidth (HPBW) in the H-plane for printed-strip dual-broadband dipole antenna by loading dielectric lens. The lens is perpendicularly placed in the direction of radiation from the antenna. In order to reduce the dielectric loss and volume, the Fresnel structure is used for the dielectric lens. The solution is broadband, covering the entire 2G/3G/LTE spectrum of 690–1000 MHz and 1710–2770 MHz. The measured results show that by loading lens, the HPBW is maintained at 120° without affecting the working frequency range of the antenna, and the gain is increased by about 1 dB.
