Abstract

A Dickson Resonant Switched-capacitor converter (RSC) with indirect resonant core and continuous conversion ratio is proposed in this paper. The traditional Dickson switched- capacitor converter (SCC) comes with the shortcomings of high transient current spike, hard-switched operation and limited line regulation range. In this paper, a small resonant inductor with bidirectional current is inserted to the intermediate charging path to form a resonant core, which is named the indirect resonant core. The Dickson RSC operates above the resonance with the merits of low transient current spike, ZVS turn-on for transistors, ZCS turn-off for diodes and continuous conversion ratio. A 150W prototype was built to verify the converter operation principle and regulation capability.
