Abstract

This work aims to reflect about the dehumanization described in survivor’s testimonies of nazism and the process used by regime to dehumanize the Jews that process began in the ghetto and ended in the concentration camp. It is bibliographical research, and the focus is the steps of the dehumanization process by survivors, especially, in Wiesel’s description. Also, the description by scholars of the area. To support this work, it approaches some authors as Rego (2014), Arendt (2012), Agamben (2002), Bauman (1998), Afonso (2017), Rocha (2018), and Fédida apud TESHAINER (2011), these authors have been reflecting about dehumanization, humanization, and the process of them. This is qualitative research and aims to reflect about the dehumanization process that was used in the twenty centuries, focusing on the nazism dehumanization description by Elie Wiesel. In that discussion we could perceive how the nazism uses that process to dehumanize Jews during the Third Reich (1933-1945), and this regime is considered a bigger historical catastrophe with new descriptions nowadays.
