Abstract

Abstract An ecological model is outlined which allows to simulate the kinetic ratio existing between limiting nutrient, primary production, consumption and decomposition in a lake's epilimnion ecosystem. To evaluate the development of phytoplanktonic algae, of herbivorous Zooplankton and of bacterial microflora, according to organic matter, nutrient, light and temperature and the influence of biotic community on the nutrient concentration, on dissolved and particulate organic matter and on water transparency. An example of the calculation of the model is carried out to show the effects of different wastewater treatment projects on the lake ecosystem.
