Abstract

The positions of the g −1 9 2 and proton hole levels in the valence nucleus 131In have been accurately determined from a measurement of total ß-decay energies. The binding energy of the g −1 9 2 ground state was found to be − 15.79(9) MeV, which is somewhat more than predicted by most of the recent independent particle calculations. The two levels are separated by 363(37) keV, which is less than predicted. The total decay energy of the ground state of 131In was determined to be 9184(33) keV.
