Abstract

The integration of distributed generators (DGS) attracts power engineers to circumvent many related issues like energy demand, congestion management, dependency on conventional energy sources, and overall system efficiency, etc. However, the interfacing of DGs with the power distribution grids for optimal operation with stability, control, and efficient energy management needs to solve many requirements and challenges during the establishment time. The optimal placement with the right size and power factor impacts the operation of the system. This paper presents a detailed review of the various proposals by many authors in recent times and also provides the pros and cons along with the future possibilities for further improvement. Various objectives, constraints, and variables along with methods are discussed as a primary knowledge for this problem to achieve line loss reduction, improvement of voltage stability, reliability improvement, economic benefits, security enhancement, and environmental pollution optimization, etc.
