Abstract

This paper presents a compact 2-port multiple-input multiple-output ultra-wideband antenna which consists of two CPW-fed monopole antenna elements and an improved ground-plane. These two antenna elements are symmetrically arranged on the top layer of FR4 substrate. The ground plane is composed three parts which are etched on the beneath of the substrate. Several ground stubs and windows as decoupling structure are inserted between two antenna elements to improve the isolation as well as impedance matching, resulting in wider impedance bandwidth of 2.2–10.6GHz with |S11|≤-10dB and low mutual coupling of less than −20dB over the range of 5.6–10GHz.
