Abstract

Structural health monitoring works provide valuable information in the evaluation of structure integrity, durability, and reliability. This chapter proposes a design of bridge structure health monitoring and management system (BSHMAMS) based on three-dimensional geographical information system (GIS) model. In the BSHMAMS, some kinds of information, such as, bridge location map, bridge drawing, sensor position in the bridge, structure monitoring data coming from sensors and the analyzed result, attribute (health) about the bridge bodies, should be managed efficiently. Data input module are used to continuously import the source data into the centralized database via Intranet, and input the graphic and attribute information of the BSHMAMS into the system by using GIS software directly or transferred from computer aided design (CAD) model. In data management module, the capture data and the analysis result are managed by relationship database management system, and the graph and attribute information are managed by GIS software. All the information are spatially maintained and integrated in unique information systems in sever side. Database backup and restore module can backup the dynamic database into the secondary storage devices, such as CD-ROM, and restore it when user want to retrieve the data.
