Abstract

A free charged particle in a uniform magnetic field is shown to acquire a magnetic moment of one Bohr magneton, a canonical angular momentum of h ̵ 2 and (hence) a g-value of 2. The analysis makes use of classical nonrelativistic electrodynamics with the additional assumption of a fluctuating zero-point radiation.
