Abstract

The first time that an offi cial deputation of trained nurses met with a Prime Minister to discuss the subject of state registration for nurses, was on the 13 May 1909. Apart from the Prime Minister, several other leading members of parliament were present. The deputation from the Society for the State Registration of Nurses included several supportive medical practitioners, women’s organization representatives and many leading nurses of the time. The BJN devoted several pages of its issue to the important occasion. The following are some interesting snippets.
