Abstract
A number of problems, such as node faults, path disconnections and security attacks, are the main reasons that often disrupts the operation of Internet of Things (IoT) networks and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). A network needs to be able to continue to function correctly when after some components fail. A method that can resolve the issue of failure is the use of mobile nodes. In this work, we present a Decentralized Fault Tolerant algorithm that utilizes mobile nodes to handle failures in the network. The algorithm consists of a detection and a recovery method. The first method is used to detect the fault and investigate the affected area, and the second method places mobile nodes in the network so to (re)connect the affected areas. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can significantly contribute to the detection and recovery of faults in IoT and WSNs.
