Abstract

Medical physics is one of the branches of applied physics that grew up in the era of COVID-19. This research aims to explore the research trends in medical physics in the last decade. The specific objectives that will be discussed in this research are essential as a reference for future research on medical physics. This study utilizes a bibliometric study to explore the research trends of medical physics in the last decade. There are 2295 documents analyzed in the study. The study resulted in some essential points. The number of articles increased dramatically during COVID-19. Medicine and Physics were the top subject areas in medical physics. Authors from Australia dominated research on medical physics. The words “article,” “medical imaging,” and “physics” were weighted the most in co-occurrences of keywords. The USA was the dominant country, and English was the language used in researching medical physics. Allison et al. were the authors who gained the most citations. Research on medical physics resulted in four dominant clusters: medicine concerning science and medical physicists, some experiments in medical physics, the measurement process in medical physics, and the association of medical physics.
