Abstract

The popularity of archaeology among the general public is reflected in the steady increase in the number of students enrolling in archaeology classes at Sydney University's Department of Adult Education (DAE). After ten years we are now broadening the scope of our teaching in this field and are about to engage in a systematic programme of fieldwork. This article examines briefly what we have done, what we are doing now, and what we should be doing next, from the point of view of both teachers and learners.
