Abstract

This paper presents a step-down DC-DC converter with a simple PID control algorithm for battery-operated portable electronic devices which are designed in 0.18μm CMOS standard process. A simple PID control algorithm is used to implement a simple a DC-DC buck converter which is not complicated and easy to construct. A design example and simulation results are presented for a digital controller IC used to control a 1 MHz switching frequency.
