Abstract

Quantitative integration of 4D seismic and production data has been proven to produce a focused signal in the connected neighborhood away from the wells. This integration is possible to achieve through correlation of the well activities and the 4D signatures they induce over time. However, such correlation can be impacted by interference of signals from different well activities at each bin in the correlation map and this leads to ambiguous interpretation. Therefore, we propose a progressive correlation that assesses the relevancy of 4D seismic changes from each well, to provide a complete picture of the well-to-seismic (well2seis) reservoir connectivity without bias. This allows us to assess the consistency of the causal link between well production volumes and the 4D seismic. The technique is applied to the frequently repeated seismic surveys monitoring compaction- assisted pressure depletion on the Valhall Field. The method provides a robust tool for characterization of spatial connectivity of the reservoir area and in the overburden.
