Abstract

Abstract This study was undertaken to design data-based alternatives for the role and development of a community college counseling center from perceptual data on the effectiveness of the institution as reported by three constituency groups: administrators, faculty, and students. The research design employed was an exploratory field study intended to be descriptive. Data for the research were obtained via the Institutional Goals Inventory, which produced scores on twenty variables. Using the IGI as an item pool, a subscale was created that specifically addressed the stated goals of the institution under investigation. This subscale was applied to the Morrill, Oetting, and Hurst cube model, creating six variables that addressed dimensions of counselor functioning.
