Abstract

A device with two long overlap hysteretic Josephson tunnel junctions in parallel is analyzed by a mechanical analog. Two identical junctions incorporated in a superconducting ring in a suitable geometrical configuration behave as a single junction. A magnetic flux threading the ring introduces a phase discontinuity in the center of the junction. On the analog the introduction of the discontinuity gives rise to significant changes in the kink's oscillation frequency.
