Abstract

A novel cylindrical conformal 2times2 microstrip antenna sub-array operating at millimeter-wave band is proposed.. A planar array element with an H-shaped coupling slot is investigated for its bandwidth feature and radiation performance. Compared with conventional microstrip antenna array, a planar 2times2 arrays is designed, and the results of comparison illustrates that the proposed design has less spurious radiation interference from the feed network than conventional array. Basing on planar structure analysis, a conformal sub-array mounted on the surface of cylindrical is presented. Radiation patterns are given and as high as 11% band width is realized. Simulation results verify the merits of the proposed conformal array.
