Abstract

Foreign bodies in the orbit are rare entities. Penetrating injuries to the orbit may result from high-velocity trauma. Here we reported a case of a 35-yearndashold male who sustained an accidental injury to the right eye with a wooden stick which was found to extend up to the infratemporal fossa. The patient underwent the removal of the foreign body with a stable postoperative course. Diagnosis of the location and removal of wooden foreign bodies is quite challenging due to their diverse appearance on different imaging modalities and their organic nature. Neglected foreign bodies can lie dormant for long periods and can cause complications. Penetrating foreign bodies of the orbit should be removed under expert guidance after confirming the location and extent of the foreign body by appropriate imaging modality to avoid life-threatening complications
