Abstract

Internet has started playing a vital role in both individual and societal life. Nursing students are using internet for both educational and recreational purposes. The dependence level on internet among students is increasing day by day; the chances of internet addiction among them were considered for the current study. Aim: To find out the prevalence of internet addiction among nursing students. Materials and Methods: The research approach was quantitative with a cross-sectional survey design in the year 2017. Sampling Technique: A total of 181 students were selected using total enumeration sampling method. Tool: The level of internet addiction was checked using the internet addiction test (IAT) (Young, 1998). Findings: There was moderate internet addiction among 14.9% and mild internet addiction among 37.6% nursing students; there was an association between sociodemographic variables such as education of father, gender and hours spend on internet with internet addiction scores.
