Abstract

In this paper, A new cross-layer design combining of adaptive modulation coding (AMC) with hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) based on rate-compatible low-density parity-check codes is proposed. In physical layer the AMC adjusts the data rates roughly according to the CSI by choosing different modulation mode. In data link layer HARQ adjusts the data rates accurately according to the CSI by changing the maximum retransmission number. Numerical results demonstrated the rate improvement of our cross-layer design over AMC alone, as well as AMC -HARQ with fixed maximum number of retransmissions.
