Abstract

This paper describes research conducted to explore the similarities and differences between French and English Canadians in relation to four leisure travel dimensions: amount of travel, sources of information, ratings of accommodation attributes and ratings of destination attributes. The objective of the research was to identify to what extent French and English Canadians differed in terms of these dimensions, and to explore whether the differences, if any were observed, were solely or mainly attributable to cultural background, and not to socio-economic differences. Data was collected from a sample of native French and English Canadians, and analysed using t-tests and chi-square tests. The findings suggest that French and English Canadians differ significantly in some of the dimensions of vacation travel under investigation.
