Abstract

A Cross-Sectional Parasitological Survey of Ehrlichia canisand Hepatozoon canisfrom Hospital Canine Populations in Lusaka, Zambia Canine monocytic ehrlichiosis (CME) and hepatozoonosis are tick-borne diseases (TBD) that cause illness worldwide and are an emerging infectious threat. Clinical and clinicopathological presentation of ehrlichiosis and hepatozoonosis tend to be non-specific and definitive diagnosis is usually based on examination of stained peripheral blood or buffy coat smears, serology or molecular techniques such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
