Abstract

Anemia is one of the most common medical issues faced during pregnancy by women. World Health Organisation has classified anemia on the basis of hemoglobin concentration. There can be various factors like medical, socio- economical, etc. attributing to the incidence of anemia during pregnancy. The present work was done on 103 pregnant female subjects of Darbhanga district, Bihar, who visited different hospitals for their antenatal care. We collected data from these hospitals to estimate the prevalence of anemia among pregnant women and to determine its association with maternal and fetal outcomes. From this study, it has been deduced that anemia is more prevalent in older age group, which is related to the fact that these individuals have histories of pregnancies and abortions.
