Abstract

In this paper, a cross fourth order moment minimum norm approach is proposed to achieve multi-path chirp time delay estimation. Because chirp signals are nonstationary, we define a special time-varying cross fourth order moment. Using this time-varying fourth order moment, the time delay estimation of the nonstationary chirp signals is converted into the parameter estimation of stationary signals. Then a minimum norm method is applied to estimate multi-path chirp time delay. Simulation results have shown that the method here exhibits efficient and accurate estimation in strong coloured noise.
