Abstract
A great number of projects have been surveyed following a descriptive and formulated model. A comparison framework is used to compare the different CIME projects. This comparison is oriented to the domains of modeling behavior, structural architecture, artificial intelligent techniques, information infrastructure, software design and data engineering methodologies. Further more, an analysis of the problems, which is partly based on the concepts of large scale systems, decomposition, decentralization and optimization, is presented. This lead to a methodology framework for future evolutionary development of a technology transfer mechanism. Our aim is to report facts and draw conclusions, and also to encourage reflection, provoke discussion and stimulate initiatives within both industry and educational institutions.
