Abstract

Typical bistable behavior (occurrence of a single Barkhausen irreversibility for a certain value of the reverse magnetic field) is observed for bent Fe-rich amorphous wires with toroidal symmetry. This property enables the design of new critical current sensors, where the Matteucci voltage is used to detect a critical current flowing through a conductor coaxial with the toroid sample axis.
