Abstract

A coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed circular ring ultra-wideband (UWB) monopole antenna with two notched functions is presented numerically. The impedance bandwidth of the proposed loop antenna is broadened by cutting two arc-shaped tapered in the CPW ground plane. Two stop frequency bands are obtained by inserting three microstrip slot-stubs in the inner of the proposed circular ring patch. The two notched bands can be controlled by adjusting the length and the width of the microstrip slot-stubs. Simulated results of the notched bands UWB antenna show that the proposed antenna with compact size of 30×22.4mm2,has an impedance bandwidth range from 2.7GHz to 9.3GHz for voltage standing-wave ratio less than 2,except two notch band frequency 3.9GHz–4.9GHz and 6.0GHz–7.8GHz for C-band satellite communications.
