Abstract

The main objective of this study is to present a compact coplanar waveguide (CPW)-fed rectangular slot patch antenna for operation in the S (2–4 GHz) and C bands (4–8 GHz). The proposed antenna has dimensions 20 × 36 × 0.5 mm3. The antenna is fabricated on a thin low loss Rogers RO3203 substrate and tested. Results are then compared with simulations. The simulated and measured −10 dB bandwidths are found to be 104% (2.48–7.86 GHz) and 103% (3.03–9.41 GHz), respectively. The antenna shows an omnidirectional radiation pattern with reasonable gain values over the same frequency band. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 55:1714–1717, 2013
