Abstract

Green synthesis of metal nanoparticles using leaf extract is gaining attention lately because of the simplicity, cost effectiveness, biocompatibility and safety features. We report the sunlight-induced green synthesis of silver nanoparticles from aqueous silver nitrate through a simple and eco-friendly route using leaf extract of ocimum leaf. The nanoparticle formation was confirmed by visual inspection and from surface plasmon peak in UV-Vis spectra. We studied the dependence of light intensity, exposure time, and wavelength on the nanoparticle formation.
