Abstract

An air shower array consisting of eight plastic scintillation detectors has been constructed to search for bursts of high energy cosmic gamma rays over a wide variety of time scales. The design and performance of the array are described in detail. The array has a low energy threshold, good sensitivity to small showers and an angular accuracy of a few degrees in determining the shower arrival direction.
