Abstract

FROM results of morphological investigations it was concluded1 that the Feulgen-stained material in somatic cell nuclei is distributed peripherally and it was suggested that this peripheral zone consists of two concentric zones in close proximity. Sparrow and Miksche's data2 on a correlation of nuclear volume and DNA content with higher plant tolerance to chronic radiation seem to offer evidence that such distribution of nuclear DNA is also found in the living somatic plant cell.
