Abstract

Two area non-reheat thermal system considered to optimize by using Competition Over Resources optimization algorithm (COR) by using Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) based Proportional-Integral (PI) controller. FLC based PI controller can be employed where the gain of the controller can be optimized by using Competition over resources (COR) optimization algorithm. Objective function Integral Time Absolute Error (ITAE) is taken for the system under study. Superiority of the proposed COR method has been shown by comparing the dynamic performance with Imperialist competitive Algorithm (ICA) based Fuzzy-PI controller, Genetic algorithm (GA) based PI controller, Particle swarm optimization algorithm (PSO) based PI controller, Bacteria foraging optimization algorithm (BFOA) based PI controller, hybrid bacteria foraging optimization algorithm and particle swarm optimization algorithm (hBFOA-PSO) based PI, for the same interconnected system. Corresponding performance index can be calculated in terms of Integral Time multiplied Absolute error (ITAE) and settling time (T s ). Sensitivity analysis is performed with system parameter variation.
