Abstract

Large-scale fixed frequency air-conditioners (FFAC) and inverter air-conditioners (IAC) are high-quality flexible load resources in the power system. This paper proposes a coordinated control method of aggregate air-conditioner (AC) load for auxiliary frequency regulation services. Firstly, a new method for evaluating the frequency regulation potential (FRP) of aggregate AC is proposed. This method can rapidly evaluate the FFAC and IAC’s potential of providing frequency regulation at all stages. Then the day-ahead frequency regulation capacity (FRC) of aggregate AC at each time period is determined based on the frequency and unit commitment constraints. Afterwards, a coordinated control method considering users’ comfort level is developed to ensure the sequential operation of each AC and support the frequency regulation of the power grid. Finally, a simulation is conducted to demonstrate that the proposed method can realize the coordinated control of FFAC and IAC and improve the frequency stability of the power system.
