Abstract

In order to achieve the maximum power recovery of the railway system and compensate reactive power, this paper presents a new hybrid structure of combining energy storage system (ESS) with inverter for regenerative braking energy. A cooperative control strategy is designed to realize the efficient utilization of regenerative braking energy and reactive power compensation. A simulation model is also established to verify the method. Simulation results have shown that much improvement on voltage stabilization of DC bus and reactive power compensation can be achieved by using the proposed method.
