A Cooperative Agent Model for Edge Detection

Abstract

This paper approaches the edge detection problem as one of optimization. The authors propose the application of the optimization techniques known as ant algorithms in the searching for the optimal edge map of those pixels that better approximate the physical edges of an image. For this end a cost function is supplied which evaluates the edge quality on the basis of the analysis of the local gradient.
