Abstract
A 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy) ligand has been prepared which bears two {Ru(tpy) 2}-containing substituents; key synthetic steps involve ‘organic’ reactions of ruthenium complexes. The new bpy ligand has been used in the convergent assembly of heteronuclear Ru 6Fe and Ru 6Co complexes.
