Abstract

Repeated intracellular recording of end-plate and action potentials from the same muscle fibre is often impossible because the membrane is damaged by the microelectrode when the muscle twitches. Membrane damage can be avoided by rolling and simultaneously stretching the muscle around a polyethylene rod; the amount of stretch necessary is about 50% of the “in-situ” length.
