Abstract
This paper looks at three areas in decision and control where the solution is improved through artificial intelligence. The first area is of historical interest (1975) where pattern recognition tools were used for process prediction and monitoring. The second area is current, and shows how a particular neural network can improve process monitoring and control (with many more-extensive applications). The third area is also current, and lists some intelligent control applications to aerospace fault accommodation and flight control, with the specific example of nonlinear flight control using neural networks.
