Abstract
We were recently asked to treat Oradour-sur-Glane, 1945, by Fautrier, a painting in mixed media on rag board support that had been glue lined to linen. The rag board support had become greatly distorted; and the paint film, in some areas 3/8 inch thick and of a raised thread-like nature, was cracked, cleaved, and blistered. There were recent paint losses and evidence of previous losses which had been retouched. In some cases, the retouchings were employed as fillers for loss in depth.
