Abstract
Dye laser action yielding a continuous stream of 270-psec pulses is reported for the dyes Cresyl Violet, Nile Blue A and DTDC in methanol, intracavity pumped in the red by a He-Ne laser. The dye is simultaneously a mode-locker for the pump laser and lasing medium. Narrow-band or wide-band dye laser spectra are observed depending on the transverse mode structure of the pump laser.
