W. Abstract Injection of particles with a non-power-law spectrum of energies, which lose energy significantly to synchrotron radiation, can account for the spectral flattening observed in Cas A. Values for magnetic field and injection rate are determined. Those derived for the Crab Nebula agree with established values.
