Abstract

Three dimensional (3D) printing is the favoured technique in contemporary manufacturing firms, that facilitates the solid 3D model from any modelling software to the real-time application in aerospace, automobile, construction, and lately, tissue engineering and medical implants that have gained traction with ongoing research studies. This review shows the emerging printing technologies such as Stereo lithography (SLA), Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), and Laminated object manufacturing (LOM). Based on these methods, suitable characterization materials like biopolymer and natural polymers were used for medical implants and tissue engineering. This review emphasizes the materials used, manufacturing methods with a keen focus on 3D printing techniques, and various applications in tissue engineering and medical implants.
