Abstract

AbstractThe sheet‐strand texture of a contaminant concentration field in turbulent flows is the basis of a simple model of the dilution process in contaminant clouds and plumes. The model is used to explain qualitative observations on kurtosis, skewness and probability density functions near the source in continuous line and point source plumes in grid turbulence.
