Abstract

This research presents the concept of childhood and how it was constituted through the history of societies and how different authors discussed the conceptions of being a child until the contemporaneousness, when it comes to be considered in its peculiarities. In Brazil we see official documents that address these changes and even policies that were created for child protection. When taking the concept of childhood as a starting point, children are supposed to be at the center of this discussion. The objective is to know how children construct the geographic concepts, from their experiences to internalize them concretely. Here, we want to give time and voice to children, as protagonists of their learning and as beings respected in all aspects: physical, human and moral. The methodology used was the case study, the subjects of the research were the children of Early Childhood Education, and the beginning of the research was based on the students 'desire to visit their friends' homes.
