Abstract

The pressure drop along a slug unit is usually attributed to the sum of the frictional and gravitational losses along the liquid slug and to the acceleration of the slow moving liquid in the film to the liquid velocity in the liquid slug. In this work it is shown that some terms associated with the pressure calculations have been overlooked. These terms are essential for consistent calculation of the overall pressure drop independent of the choice of a control volume over which the pressure drop is computed.
